Die Zeche Zollverein (Zollverein Colliery) is located in the northern Essen district of Stoppenberg, in a triangle between Fritz-Schupp-Allee, Gelsenkirchener Str. und Bullmanaue. The coal mine was closed in 1986. Together with the neighbouring Kokerei Zollverein (Zollverein coke oven factory), the colliery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as an anchor point on the European Industrial Heritage Trail.
