The Vasa Museum (Vasamuseet) is located in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. It is found in the Djurgården behind the Djurgårdsbron Bridge. The museum is home to the Swedish warship Vasa, which sank on its maiden voyage on 10th August 1628. The building was completed in 1990, after part of the light metal roof construction that was protecting the historic ship was destroyed by a storm. Since the museum’s construction by the architects’ firm Månsson & Dahlbäck, visitors have been able to walk right around the ship in the 34 metre long hall and view the ship on a total of seven floors. An exhibition provides insight into the history of Sweden. The Vasa Museum is one of the most visited museums in Scandinavia.
