The Burj al Arab is one of the most luxurious and expensive hotels in the world. With a height of 321 metres it is, after the Rose Tower, the world’s tallest building used purely as a hotel. Landmarks of the building are its sail-shaped cubature and its exposed position. The total height of the hotel, at 321.25 m, is somewhat lower than the Eiffel Tower (324,82 m) and only 60 m lower than the Empire State Building as far as the roof (381 m), although it is 128.5 m lower than the Empire State Building, measured at its complete height (449.5 m).
