Uji
Uji is a city in the Japanese prefecture of Kyōto, located south of Kyōto. The city is interspersed with temples such as the Byōdō-in Temple, built in 1053, and the Ujigami-jinja Shintō Shrine. The buildings were awarded the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site under the title of “historic Kyōto” (Kyōto, Uji und Ōtsu). The city is also home to the main temple of the Obaku-shu-Zen, the Obakusan Mampuku-ji.
